How I Grew My YouTube Channel to 40,000 Views a Day in 6 Months

One of the biggest mistakes I see most YouTube channels making is that they’re posting whatever random video idea comes to mind.

There’s no strategy, there’s no market research, there’s no game plan.

When I started my channel in October 2016, from day 1, I had a game plan.

That’s why, within 6 months of starting the channel, I already had one video with 1,000,000+ views, and another with 500,000+ views, because I found a gap in the market.

Before starting the channel, I found a YouTube channel making motivational videos that grew from 0 to 60,000 subscribers within 6 months.

That was proof of concept that the demand for motivational videos was there, and supply was relatively low since the channel was growing so quickly.

In 2016, I made my first video – a study motivational video – inspired by the other motivation channel that was growing so quickly.

My aim was to one-up every component of that motivational channel – the thumbnails should be slightly more vibrant, the titles should be slightly more interesting, the video editing should be slightly faster paced.

I didn’t just want to be in line with my ‘competition’, but I used them as inspiration to do better.

That was 2016.

Now, my channel has over 1 million subscribers where I’ve positively impacted the lives of tens of millions of people around the world.

And I still use the same strategic mindset as I did on day 1:

• Looking for other YouTube channels that are blowing up,

• Finding other YouTube videos that are getting significantly more views than other videos posted on that channel around the same time

• Building a game plan based on audience demand.
